St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye is blessed with a vibrant network of ministries, sodalities, and parish groups that help bring the Gospel to life in the daily experience of the community. These groups are essential to the spiritual growth of parishioners, active service in the Church, and the strengthening of fellowship across the parish family.
These ministries serve different ages, vocations, and pastoral needs. Some focus on prayer and formation, on service and leadership, and others on liturgical participation, youth accompaniment, charity, or mutual support. Together, they help ensure that parish life remains active, inclusive, and rooted in shared responsibility.
The ministry life of the parish reflects its Jesuit identity. St. Charles Lwanga Parish values formation, youth empowerment, service of the poor, community participation, and the generous sharing of gifts for the good of the whole Church. Ministries and groups, therefore, do more than just organizing activities; they form disciples and strengthen the witness of the parish in Muyeye and beyond.
The current Parish groups, Sodalities, and Devotional groups include:
- Catholic Men Association (CMA) – fellowship, leadership, service, and Christian witness among men.
- Catholic Women Association (CWA) – prayer, unity, service, and faith-filled support among women.
- Parish Youth (Catholic Youth Association – Muyeye) – youth formation, leadership, service, and active participation in parish life.
- Pontifical Missionary Children (PMC) – missionary and spiritual formation for children.
- Pontifical Missionary Youth (PMY) – Missionary and spiritual formation of PMC’s transitioning to Youth.
- Daughters of Mary (Wana Maria) – Marian devotion, spiritual growth, and service among girls and young women.
- St. Anna Women – prayer, family values, and social support among women.
- Choir Ministry – sacred music and liturgical service in the life of the parish.
- Altar Servers – service at the altar and formation in reverence and responsibility.
How Ministries Serve the Parish
These groups help the faithful to live out their vocation and charisms in concrete ways. Through prayer meetings, Bible sharing, catechesis, retreats, outreach, mentoring, charity, music, and practical support, they strengthen both the spiritual and communal life of the parish. Ministries also help parishioners find a place of belonging and participation within the wider family of the Church.
Many of these groups also contribute directly to parish worship and service. For example, the parish choirs lead sacred music, CMA and youth help in ushering and stewardship, and the contribution of women’s groups in devotional and practical service. In this way, ministries are closely linked to the liturgical, social, and missionary life of the parish.
Participation and Growth
Ministries and groups are one of the ways parishioners grow in faith, friendship, leadership, and Christian service. They help children, youth, women, men, and families deepen their sense of belonging while also contributing their gifts to the mission of the Church. The parish is a place where many ministries are active and where all are warmly invited to take part in worship and service.
Parishioners are encouraged to join these groups to fully participate in the life of St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye. In this way, they will continue to grow in faith, unity, service, and joyful witness.
