St. Anna Women

The St. Anna Women group at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye is a fellowship of women united in prayer, family support, and practical service. Named after St. Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the group draws inspiration from her example of faith, wisdom, and the passing on of faith from one generation to the next.

The parish sources present this group as especially important for mothers, elder women, and other adult women who wish to deepen their prayer life and support family well-being within the parish community. While some members also belong to the Catholic Women Association, St. Anna Women has its own local character as a close-knit and accessible fellowship centered on prayer, counsel, and care for families.

What St. Anna Women Promotes

  • Prayer and Intercession – members pray especially for families, marriages, children, grandchildren, and those who may have drifted from the faith.
  • Family Values – the group encourages parenting, Christian marriage, family prayer, and the responsible passing on of faith in the home.
  • Mutual Support Among Women – the fellowship provides a space where women can share wisdom, encourage one another, and accompany each other through the challenges of life.
  • Quiet Family Ministry – members support struggling families through visits, counsel, encouragement, and practical help offered with discretion and compassion.
  • Charitable Service – the group assists vulnerable families, elderly persons, and those in need through food support, small contributions, and other acts of mercy.

The Spirit of St. Anne

St. Anne is remembered in Christian tradition as a mother who helped prepare Mary for her vocation. In that same spirit, St. Anna Women seeks to guide, encourage, and strengthen families in the parish. The group reflects the wisdom of age, the strength of prayer, and the quiet but essential work of women who help keep faith alive in the home and in the community.

Family Support and Practical Service

The parish sources show that St. Anna Women is not only a prayer group, but also a practical support network. Members discuss challenges affecting families, such as conflict in marriage, parenting difficulties, and the pressures of modern family life. They respond through prayer, counsel, encouragement, and simple acts of care.

The group also plays an important role in parish and family events. In keeping with local culture and Christian service, the women often help with cooking, hospitality, and support during weddings, funerals, and other important moments in parish and family life. These works of service are part of the group’s witness of love and solidarity.

Small Projects and Shared Responsibility

The attached materials also indicate that the group has encouraged practical initiatives to support members in times of need. These include simple savings support and small handicraft activities that help strengthen mutual assistance and community spirit. In this way, the group combines spiritual care with practical concern for everyday life.

St. Anna Women in Parish Life

Within the wider life of the parish, St. Anna Women helps preserve the familial atmosphere of the community. The group strengthens bonds between generations, encourages younger families, and offers a place where women can share faith, wisdom, and support in a spirit of Christian friendship. It is a quiet but important ministry that contributes greatly to the warmth and stability of parish life.
