St. Charles Lwanga is the patron saint of our parish and a powerful model of courageous Christian faith. As one of the Ugandan Martyrs, he is remembered throughout the Church in Africa and beyond for his steadfast fidelity to Christ, his moral courage, and his willingness to remain faithful even in the face of persecution.
St. Charles Lwanga was a young Catholic catechist who, together with his companions, chose faithfulness to the Gospel rather than compromise. His witness reached its fulfillment in martyrdom in 1886. Canonized in 1964, he continues to inspire Christians of every age to live with integrity, purity of heart, and unwavering trust in God.
For St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye, our patron is more than a historical figure. He is a spiritual guide and an enduring example for our parish family. His life calls us to be brave in faith, rooted in prayer, firm in Christian values, and generous in service. In a parish that values youth formation, evangelization, and unity in diversity, his witness remains especially meaningful.
His example speaks in a particular way to young people. St. Charles Lwanga reminds the youth of our parish that holiness is possible, that faith can be lived with courage, and that Christian discipleship requires both conviction and perseverance. His life encourages all of us to stand for truth, to protect what is good, and to remain faithful to Christ in every circumstance.
