St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye is under the spiritual leadership of the Jesuit Fathers appointed by the Eastern Africa Province. Their ministry gives the parish a distinct Ignatian character, marked by collaborative service, pastoral care, sacramental leadership, faith formation, and a missionary spirit of reaching people where they are.
The clergy serve the parish by celebrating the Sacraments, preaching the Gospel, accompanying families, guiding formation, and strengthening the spiritual life of the community. In keeping with the Jesuit tradition, their leadership seeks to combine prayer, discernment, outreach, and service for the greater glory of God.
Current Clergy Leadership
- Parish Priest: Rev. Fr. Sosthenes “Sossy” Luyembe, SJ
- Assistant Parish Priest: Rev. Fr. Damas Lazaro Missanga, SJ
Jesuit Mission Support
From time to time, the parish also benefits from the support of other Jesuit priests and scholastics assigned to pastoral exposure or special ministry. This wider Jesuit collaboration strengthens parish life through youth ministry, catechesis, retreats, spiritual direction, altar server formation, and other pastoral services as needed.
Founding Clergy
- Founding Parish Priest: Rev. Fr. Protus Opondo, SJ
- Founding Assistant Priest: Rev. Fr. Atakelt Tesfaye, SJ
We remember with gratitude the priests who helped lay the foundation of the parish and those who continue to serve its mission. Through their dedication, St. Charles Lwanga Parish continues to grow as a welcoming community of faith, prayer, and pastoral care.
