From the beginning, St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye has understood development as part of mission. The growth of a parish is not measured only by spiritual activities, but also by the spaces that make worship, prayer, formation, and community life possible. One of the clearest signs of this vision has been the gradual building and improvement of the parish church and compound.

The parish’s journey began in modest conditions, with the faithful gathering in simple structures as the new community took root. Over time, prayerful planning, local sacrifice, and support from friends of the parish made it possible to move toward a more permanent church. The result has been a dignified worship space that gives the community room to gather, celebrate the Eucharist, and experience the beauty of a parish truly growing into maturity.

Yet development did not stop with the church building itself. The wider compound also became part of the mission. Landscaping, security improvements, prayer corners, hand-washing stations, and better access for vehicles were not merely practical additions. They expressed the parish’s desire to create an environment that is safe, welcoming, prayerful, and ready to serve the people of God.
What makes this project especially meaningful is that it reflects a shared effort. Parishioners, benefactors, clergy, and friends all played a part. In that sense, the church building is more than a structure. It is a testimony to unity, sacrifice, and faith. It stands as a visible reminder that when a community builds together, it builds not only walls and roofs, but also belonging, dignity, and hope.
Source basis: church construction, dedication, compound improvement, security, landscaping, and parking development are explicitly preserved in the parish project drafts.
