Each year on 3rd June, the Feast of St. Charles Lwanga and Companions holds a special place in the life of our parish. It is not only the feast of our patron saint, but also a moment when the whole parish family gathers in thanksgiving, remembrance, and renewed commitment to the Gospel. For St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish – Muyeye, this celebration expresses both our identity and our mission.

The feast invites the community to reflect on the witness of St. Charles Lwanga: courage in faith, purity of heart, steadfastness in trial, and generous witness to Christ. His life continues to inspire our parish, especially the youth, to remain faithful even in the face of pressure, difficulty, or uncertainty. In this way, the feast is not simply a memorial of the past, but a living call to Christian witness in the present.

The celebration is centered on the Holy Mass, where the parish gathers in one voice to thank God for the gift of faith and for the journey of the community. The sources also show that this feast naturally becomes a time of fellowship and visible unity, with parish groups, Small Christian Communities, and outstations sharing in the joy of the day. Songs, testimonies, and communal celebration help make the feast a true family occasion.

What makes this feast especially meaningful is that it combines devotion and identity. To honor St. Charles Lwanga is also to remember what kind of parish we are called to be: courageous, prayerful, missionary, and faithful. Year after year, this feast reminds us that our patron still walks with us and still inspires our journey.
